FriendChild is committed to increase the awareness of food poverty and provide malnutrition children with better quality meals.

Growing concern

5 million children in the 3rd world countries (Africa, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Iraq, Mexico, Afghanistan, Romania etc) die each year due to malnutrition or lack of food. This is equivalent to a child dies in every 6 seconds!

The less fortunate hungry children in the 3rd world countries live in poor conditions and some of them even live in the garbage dumps. The consequences of malnutrition in children are infant mortality, growth stunting, anemia, decreased learning capacity, and weakened immune system. Their inability to learn, work and play, cause them much inconvenience leading to unfulfilled lives on this earth.

Without the ability to absorb nutrients and attend schools for their education, they thus grow up to be trapped in poverty and illiteracy. Due to the lack of vitamins and minerals, results to the children’s vitamin deficiencies, causing them to be vulnerable to infections, and diarrhoea which leads to many illnesses and diseases, and eventually deaths at very young ages during their childhood days.

How to help them

FriendChild provides help by distributing bags of rice to these severely undernourished children.

The bag of rice intended for their needs has been researched and developed over the years to provide enough nutrients to ensure that these children can live a normal life.

The Food

The bags of rice contain 25 vitamins and minerals which cater to the needs of the severely undernourished children.

The rice is vegetarian and non-dairy contain:

- Essential fatty acids required for normal brain development, skin health and immune defenses,
- Electrolytes which are needed to maintain normal fluid balance and muscle function,
- Vitamin A which is essential for normal sight and immune function,
- Bone nutrients for normal growth and skeletal development,
- A balance of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and fibre.

Procedure

We do not collect funds to help the world’s starving children but encourage people to purchase bags of nutritious rice every month to help save the needy children in the less-developed countries. There is NO administrative cost.

The delivery of the bags to the 3rd world countries will be taken care by the organization. Each bag of rice weighs 2.5kg and can feed 30 children.

It is not our practice to insist Donors to commit a fixed number of bags every month, but to let them decide at their convenience and preference voluntarily.
